Located at an impressive altitude of 8,957 feet above sea level, Doodhpathri is a serene and picturesque haven, just 42 kilometres from Srinagar and 22 kilometres from the district headquarters of Budgam. What makes Doodhpathri even more appealing is its proximity to Srinagar International Airport, making it one of the most accessible tourist destinations in the region. Only a short drive away from the airport, it is perfect for travellers looking to quickly immerse themselves in the natural beauty and tranquillity of Kashmir. The story behind the name “Doodhpathri” is steeped in the mystical traditions of Kashmir. It is said that the renowned saint Sheikh Noor din Noorani, also known as Sheik-ul-Aalam, once prayed in these meadows. In his search for water to perform ablution, he struck the ground with his stick, and to his astonishment, milk began to flow instead of water. Upon instructing the milk to turn to water for the purpose of ablution, the liquid immediately transformed. The meadow, thus imbued with this divine miracle, was named Doodhpathri, meaning “Valley of Milk.” Today, the flowing water in Doodhpathri retains a unique milky appearance from a distance and remains refreshingly cold year-round. The lush, green meadows and the sparkling streams that traverse the valley only enhance the area’s ethereal charm. In the evening return back to Srinagar. Check-in to the houseboat for overnight stay and dinner.
After breakfast, check-out from houseboat and leave for Pahalgam Trip. Pahalgam is one of the most beautiful valleys in Kashmir having gushing river Lidder flowing. Situated among lofty hills covered with evergreen forests, it’s cool invigorating and pleasant climate, the melodious flow of Lidder Nallah attract tourists not only from within the country but also from abroad as well. It is also an important transit camp on the way to holy Amar Nath Ji Cave, which is 72 Kms away from the District Head-Quarter. On the way to Pahalgam, one can visit some interesting spots like Saffron Fields, Mustard Fields, Bat Manufacturing Units, Awantipora Ruins, Apple Valley etc to name a few. Upon reaching Pahalgam, check-in to the hotel. One can also visit Village Aru Valley nestled quietly in the mountains while the stream fed from the glaciers make it beautiful. Another small Valley Betab Valley is also beautiful. Later visit Chandanwari Village also to see nature’s bounty. In the evening return back to the hotel for overnight stay and dinner.
After Breakfast, head towards Airport/Bus-Stand/Railway station and connect to your onwards journey.
